Week #5

Week #4

Out of the artist, we saw this week I liked the twin brothers the best. I’ve never seen brothers’ work together in art its very unique team. Secondly I thought that there bamboo structure, as an equally unique path. The constant transformation is not only conceptually sound but also gives visitors a reason to return to see the Big Bamboo. I hope they do some type of time lapse of the structure so that it will truly look like a wave, that the brothers were discussing in their interview.

Week #3

In class this week we did an assignment where we had to talk ourselves up and it's interesting how much people struggle with something like this. Looking at yourself critically is a skill in itself, but defining your strengths often even more difficult. I think it comes with Ringling, we spend much more time looking at the flaws in our work and ourselves then we do thinking about things we are good at. I don’t know if there is anyway to think that here at Ringling, but it’s something to think about. It’s an interesting condition.

Week #2

This week we talk about what art dealers are looking for when it comes to featuring and selling artist. It got me thinking about my own career path and some companies I’m interested in looking for. I’m very interested in working for a movie production or distribution company. Such a company has to make similar choices as dealers do. A company like Troma has a very niche market that they sell too. As such when people come to them with scripts or movies I’m sure they have something ala to a checklist they go through to see if that’s something they want invest the effort into.

Week #1

This week learned about a number of things related to the Business of Fine Arts in the world. I will come right out and say that I don't wish to pursue a career in Fine Arts at all. It does however seem to be an interesting field. I find myself drawn to learning through someone's stories, I summaries it’s why I’m such a fan of documentaries. I very much enjoy this week of class with Mark lightly summarizing this career path with interesting stories, and illustrated with so very interesting art.
Lastly I’m glad I’m forced to write a artist state as a business student it’s something that at least I’ve never done. Lets see how deep I can dig.
